Job Description
Heartland Oncology and Hematology, PLLC in Council Bluffs, Iowa is seeking a Medical Oncologist/Hematologist with great clinical skill and a passion for treating patients. Heartland Oncology is a private practice medical clinic and infusion center that not only provides care in its main location in Council Bluffs, but also provides oncology services to 11 different rural hospitals in Southwest, Iowa.
The Medical Oncologist/Hematologist will assess up to 25 patients inside our main facility, and practice alongside a very well established team of other medical oncologists, nurses and administrative staff. The medical oncologist/hematologist will also be a part of Heartland Oncology’s robust outreach program. This will include providing oncology services to up to
4 rural hospitals in Southwest, Iowa. These facilities will be from 30 minutes to 1.25 hours’ drive time from our main facility in Council Bluffs.
The ideal candidate will have experience and success in collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Other responsibilities will include assisting in the development of other clinic programs as well as participation in tumor conferences.
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited MD, DO or Foreign Degree program
- Board Certification in Medical Oncology AND Hematology after 2 years of employment
- Fellowship training in Medical Oncology AND Hematology
- Eligibility for an Iowa and Nebraska Medical License

Heartland Oncology and Hematology is located in Council Bluffs, Iowa just minutes from Downtown Omaha, Nebraska, inside Jennie Edmundson Methodist Hospital. Heartland Oncology has been in practice since 1984 and currently has 3 physicians and 1 nurse practitioner, as well as a COLA certified laboratory. Our facility is complete with a Chemotherapy Mixing room, and infusion center. We fully support Jennie Edmundson Hospitals Commission on Cancer accreditation.
